I’ve been thinking about witches a lot lately. It’s important to remember that during the burning times, it wasn’t witches they were burning. It was women. Women who did not comply. Women who did not submit. Women who refused to be silent.
I believe stories preserve meaning through time. I believe our words can change hearts, and making things with our hands can literally change the world. I believe this is magic.
I believe that although there really is no such thing as a witch in the sense of Hermione Granger, Elphaba, or Glinda, that we can claim this identity for ourselves and use it to empower ourselves.
This is an excerpt from my book Folktales of Lithuania. I hope it inspires you to enter your own witchiness and use your power.
*We witches and crones are goddesses and we have the power to change the world.
I Love this! I can relate in every way! I am that witch. I'm MAD about herbs. I have used them all my life. I go crazy over them. HA! Like Catnip for a cat. 🐈 At a very young age when I first met a particular priest in my hometown. My Mom told me I had a deep aversion to this person. I also have had a dream about being buried alive. YIKES! 😱 SO....Donna, yes, yes and yes and thank you again for your gorgeous art and that is TRUTH
Oh you are having such FUN with this! 💜⭐💙🌱
